PrEP'ing to provide PrEP to pregnant women in South Africa: What do we know and what will we learn?

Dr. Dvora Joseph Davey is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology in the Fielding School of Public Health. She is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She received her Master’s in Public Health Degree from Columbia University, and her PhD in Epidemiology from the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA. Since receiving her doctorate degree, she has been leading research on HIV risk factors including sex behaviors, substance use and sexually transmitted infections in pregnant and breastfeeding women in Cape Town to inform a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) cohort study. She recently received a Fogarty International Research Science Development Award from the NIH (K01) and is a co-Investigator on a R01 from NIMH that will evaluate PrEP use in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
