Join us for a talk by Dr. Chris Buck who will talk about the challenges of conducting clinical research on HIV and Tuberculosis in children in Mozambique.
Dr. Buck is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UCLA and Partner Lead for the Global Health Program's (GHP) partnerships in Mozambique, KwaZulu-Natal South Africa, and Brazil. He is based full-time in Maputo, Mozambique where GHP supports pediatric, pediatric surgery, and family medicine residency training programs throughout the country. In this role, he also serves as the focal point for all UCLA medical students and residents who complete clinical and research rotations at Hospital Central de Maputo, where he attends on the Breastfeeding Ward.
In addition to Dr. Buck’s medical education and clinical work, he leads a research team that has several ongoing studies and clinical trials, and leads a PEPFAR-funded project providing technical assistance to the Mozambique Ministry of Health pediatric HIV and TB programs. Prior to joining UCLA, he worked for the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative in Malawi and for CDC Mozambique.
