Rubens M. de Campos Pinto is a Brazilian PhD student from University of São Paulo. His research is about the impact of China on Brazilian urban and territorial contemporary trends. The focus is on Chinese investments in the built environment (roads, railways, ports, dams...), considering the traditional urban and industrial concentrations in the coastal areas and the new expansions to the center of the country. The research tries to contribute with discussions in the comparative urban studies from a perspective of a relationship between the Global South and the East. Thematically, his interests include infrastructure, built environment, global urbanization, Brazil, Latin America, Global South, and the East. At the Latin American Institute he contributes with the discussions about the region from a Urban Geography perspective, specially considering the Brazilian case in its relationship with Asia.
